Music for Ukraine - Day 2

Tonight, I’m sending a setting of Edgar Newgass’ timely poem about the “still, small voice that tells of evil’s nothingness.” Let’s all dwell – and know that all dwell – in “the secret place.”

The Secret Place
Words by Edgar Newgass; music by Augustus Lowe

O dwell thou in the secret place of God
Where life and health belong.
Not human prowess wins the race,
Nor is the battle to the strong.
Not to the strong the victory
But God provides for all.
His will from fear and failure sets us free
And bids the storms of life be still.

Be not dismayed by storm or stress
But hearken to the still, small voice
That tells of evil’s nothingness;
Be Soul’s serenity thy choice.
Abide in quietness of heart,
Thy days enriched by heavenly grace.
Throughout eternity thou art
Secure in Spirit’s secret place.

Accompaniment by Diana Babcock. (I won’t continue to make note of it, but I, Dick Frantzreb, will be the vocalist in all the music I send you.)

For all these mailings, I will try to note how a copy of the sheet music for the song can be obtained. Unfortunately, for this copyrighted piece, the only way I know to obtain it is to request a copy from the sole distributor, Carl Fischer. This piece is out of print, so the request for a copy begins on this page: www.carlfischer.com/licensing/photocopying.  Incidentally, this piece is Fischer’s catalog # V2308.
