Inspirational Readings - Early Voices |

Throughout my life, I've studied the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, subscribed to and read the Journal and Sentinel, had class instruction, been a member of The Mother Church since 1963, and been an active member of branch churches since I was a teenager. However, I have also built a collection of Association addresses and other talks by teachers of CS, lecturers and practitioners ― nearly all prior to the 1960s. Many of the best of these I've felt compelled to record over the past 30 years. Mostly, the recordings were for my own benefit, occasionally shared with family or a close friend. Recognizing that many of them might be viewed with suspicion by fellow Christian Scientists, I've been reluctant to share them more broadly since they were not published by the Christian Science Publishing Society, and would not be considered "authorized literature." Still, in them I have found solid Christian Science, consistent with Mrs. Eddy's teachings. When I began systematically listening to these recordings several years ago, I began to feel increasingly strongly that I should share them more widely. One reason why I think others might find value in these recordings is that I've learned, through almost 8 years as a First Reader (spread over different terms), how to "speak the written word."
