Press was founded by Marcia Bush Stearns, wife of well-known sacred
music composer, Peter Pindar Stearns. The company is best known
for Lift
Up Your Voice,
a collection of sacred solos that was compiled and edited by Ms.
Stearns and published in 1971. Recently, I got a call from the Stearns'
daughter, Gloria Stearns-Bruner, who has had to store large quantities
of Coburn Press music and would like to get as much of it as possible
into the hands of those who could use it.Let's start with Lift Up Your Voice. Click here to open the book's contents in a new window. Note that there are 40 to 50 words of lyrics for each of the 32 songs. And for a sense of the music, here are 11 of the songs that have been recorded for the Solo Bank.
Ms. Stearns-Bruner has donated a quantity of these books to Vocal Works for me to distribute if I can. Even if you have this book, you might want to consider getting one or even two pristine copies. I've discovered that sending the book via media mail will cost $4.13. Add the cost of my shipping supplies, the cost to ship the books to me, recordkeeping, and a special trip to the post office, and I can send you this book for $18 (contact and payment info on Order page). Here's something interesting. This book, in used condition, is for sale on eBay and Amazon respectively, for $99.99 and $100.

in 1975, and Gloria Stearns-Bruner has sent me a quantity of those, as
well.

Note that each of these solos was subject to the compositional quality standards of composer Peter Pindar Stearns and the editorial judgment of his wife, Marcia Bush Stearns. Individual solos are available under the same terms as sheet music sent by postal mail, i.e. $12.50 per title. Of course, each is in perfect, new condition. However, I can send you all 12 pieces of sheet music for $18 (postage included). |
